Extremely simple task Trump’s son Barron does that his dad thinks is ‘unbelievable’

Donald Trump once proudly spoke about how one task that his son Barron does means he has ‘unbelievable aptitude in technology’.

People were left confused after the US president made the outlandish claim about Barron, 19, when it appeared that he was actually referring to a completely normal thing.

Trump’s youngest son Barron, who he shares with his wife Melania, is currently studying at the Stern School of Business at New York University, and his father praised his technological acumen in a 2025 interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News.

The US president opened up about his son Barron, praising his so-called tech ability.

“If you look at my kids, all of my kids, they’ve been very good, they’ve been very smart,” he said. “They love our country and they’re proud of their father.”

Ingraham then asked about any of Barron’s specific skills that Trump thinks stand out, for example in business or politics.

Trump instead praised Barron’s ability with technology, saying he is ‘unbelievable’.

But when he described why he thinks Barron’s skills are ‘unbelievable’, people were left a little perplexed.

Trump said: “I turn off his laptop, I said, ‘Oh good,’ and I go back five minutes later, he’s got his laptop. I said, ‘How’d you do that?’

“‘None of your business, Dad’. He’s got an unbelievable aptitude in technology.”

On Reddit, some people asked whether this meant that Trump was praising his son’s ability to turn on a laptop.

“It sounds like Trump slammed the lid down on his kid’s laptop and stalked out of the room unaware of a thing called ‘sleep mode’,” one commented.

Another person said: “Apparently he thinks his kid is a genius bc of that,” while a third wrote: “Reminds me of when my parents would talk about how smart I was because I could put together legos.”

But others thought that there might have been something more which perhaps wasn’t clear in what Trump said.

This was that Barron had figured out a way to get past either a password or software blocking computer use, which is significantly more impressive than just turning it on.

“Well it was basically he had used a program to disallow his son to be on his laptop. Barron figured out a way to bypass,” one explained.

And another wrote: “Yeah, I feel like he meant he got past the password. Probably was something basic such as not having turned it off so there was no password.”

The president then explained that he was pleased with his children and that they have ‘a good relationship’.

“I’m lucky, you have to be a little bit lucky too… They’re good kids and they work hard,” he said.
