Donald Trump mocks Melania with 5-word swipe during Medal of Honor ceremony

On Monday, March 2, Donald Trump gave an update on the war in Iran as he commenced a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House. However, he quickly turned from talking about war to bragging about the ballroom construction — and mocked his wife, Melania.

Donald Trump and his administration have their hands full with the attack on Iran. Six US service members have been confirmed dead. On Monday, Donald Trump made his first public appearance amid the attack on the Middle Eastern country, which began Friday, as he attended a Medal of Honor ceremony.

However, as he was talking about the brave Americans serving in the military, he quickly changed the subject.

“We have a lot of great service members here with us, too, in this beautiful building,” Trump told those in attendance in the East Room, per Daily Beast. “Isn’t it beautiful? We’re adding on to the building a little bit.”

Trump continued by talking about the construction of the new ballroom, which was taking place just outside the window. He bragged about the drapes – and accused his wife, Melania Trump, of complaining about the noise.

“When you hear all the hammering out there, you know why the first lady is not thrilled exactly,” Trump continued. “She said, ‘Will the pile drivers ever stop?’ You know they go from six in the morning until 11:30 in the evening. Can you imagine?”

Donald Trump says Melania Trump ‘complains about noise’ during ballroom construction

As mentioned, construction was ongoing right outside the window. However, according to Trump, it was “the most beautiful” sound.

“When I hear that sound, that beautiful sound behind me, it means money, so I like it, but my wife isn’t thrilled,” the president explained. “She said, ‘This is getting crazy.’ I said, ‘Don’t worry about it. We’ll be all finished up in a few months.”

Moreover, Donald Trump rambled about the drapes covering the entrance to the ballroom.

“See that nice drape. When that comes down, right now you see a very, very deep hole, but in about a year and a half from now, you’re going to see a very, very beautiful building, and there’s your entrance to it right there,” Trump said. “It looks so nice, I think I’ll save money on the doors.”

He added, “I built many a ballroom. I believe it’s going to be the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world,” he said.
